AWARD OF THE JULIUS HIRSCH PRIZE

MAKKABI Germany News

As one of two Jewish players in the German national team from 1911 to 1933, Julius Hirsch, known as "Juller", was German champion with Karlsruher SV and SpVgg Fürth. In 1945 he was murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau. Since 2005, the German Football Association has awarded the Julius Hirsch Prize to individuals, initiatives and clubs that publicly campaign for democracy and human rights and against racism, anti-Semitism and any kind of xenophobia. This year, the DFB honored FC Ente Bagdad Mainz for their tireless commitment. The Toten Hosen received the honorary award for their commitment against racism, right-wing extremism and anti-Semitism beyond the stage. The event took place in the Palmengarten in Frankfurt am Main. President Alon Meyer, Office Manager Christine Schuessler and Administrator Debbie Friedman were also invited.
